Grand Opening Ceremony of the ELI-ALPS (Hungary)
On May 23rd, 2017, members of Consortium for Attosecond Laser Science and Technology (COAST) travelled to Szeged, Hungary to attend the Grand Opening Ceremony of the ELI-ALPS (Extreme Light Infrastructure – Attosecond Light Pulse Source) building complex. Members attended a tour of the facility and a talk by Prof. Ferenc Krausz (Director of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics). Later, they met with Prof. Dimitris Charalambidis, Chief Scientific Advisor for ELI-ALPS and discussed various administrative challenges of ELI-ALPS.
The ELI project is a part of the European plan to build the next generation of large research facilities in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania with respective focuses on attosecond, beam line and photonuclear applications.
